Video (3 min), and photographs.

"Wife-Carrying Competitions are a unique competition that developed in Finland in the 1800s. The goal of the competition is for a man to carry their female teammate, historically their wife, around a course with obstacles as quickly as possible. There are several methods of carrying that are seen during a competition, but there are three main carries, the fireman's carry, piggyback carry, and the Estonian carry. The Estonian Carry has the woman hanging upside down with her legs over the shoulders of the man and her arms wrapped around his waist." *
